...To get a passport.
Last time I got a passport (I even had it expedited), it took 5 minutes to fill out the form online, print it out, go to Walgreens during lunch to get photo's and then back to work to throw it in an envelope along with my expired passport. DONE.
So this yahoo used that as his excuse to take half the day off. Sure... You can take personal time, but ya should have a good reason to do so. I'm thinking his real excuse may sound a whole lot like ishing with an f in front of it.

Yeah I had to get mine renewed on Saturday, had the form ready when I got there, took a picture, and paid for it. Took like 3 minutes.

Haha sounds about right. But maybe next time it'll take me 3 hours. Instead of 3 minutes. :P But really, I'm not like that. Haha.

I have been to the post office on passport day, and the lines can be terribly long.

'Hey boss, I'm going to renew my passport'
"That's the third time this week Bob!"
'Yeah, I know...they really should make those things last longer'

Ugh I have to renew mine next year. Much hard.

If you are forced to go to an actual passport office it can take that long. Just sayin'.

I figured the Canadian government would be nice enough to not make you endure that.

Are you being sarcastic? Lol.

Maybe he just needed a half day off? What is wrong with that?
But then again, I'm a little spoiled at my job. I get 5 weeks of vacation, along with holidays. And I can pretty much take off whenever. I could call my boss at 8:30 tomorrow morning and be like, "Hey, I think I'm going to take today off." And she would ask two questions; "Is everything okay?" and then "Is there anything I need to take care of?
It is going to majorly suck when I have to get a job with rules and stuff.

Which would be the case if yours has been expired too long or if you've never had one? Maaaaaybe that's the case, but I dunno....

Yeah, that sounds nice, haha. I have 15 days this year.... Because I saved 5 last year. Last year sucked. I'm getting close to actually having 15 per year though :D

Actually, no. The last time I was at the PO (and I try to go there as seldom as possible), there were probably thirty people there waiting to process their passport applications, and the postal worker was moving at the glacial speed of government service.

Hmmm strange. Was your area planning a mass-exodus to another country?

Much line standing. Such bureaucracy.

Texas. Draw your own conclusions.

Or you let it expire and have a trip booked within a week or two. I have a buddy who did that.

WOW Many easy indeed.

yikes.
They make a big deal of it even if it's within a month of expiring.

I never even had a passport before and there was someone in line in front of me and it still only took like 15 minutes.
